Birth Photography

Birth Photography

I’m actively looking to capture home, birthing centre or hospital births in the Brighton and surrounding area to expand my birth documentary portfolio.

My photography is all about connection and I pitch myself as a ‘Photographic Doula, gentle, kind and knowledgeable in all areas of photography’ but I need some help to find some willing participants! Just to confirm to anyone interested that I’d attend on a free of charge basis and you would receive a copy of all images in exchange for your permission to use the images to promote my services to other parents.

Having given birth three times, I know the score when it comes to childbirth. I’ve also attended a caesarean at the Royal Sussex before and would love to have the opportunity to photograph some more if we get permission from your midwife & obstetrician.

Here’s a recommendation from the lovely Lizzy:

“I can highly recommend Lesley Burdett as a birth/baby photographer. I contacted Lesley to ask her to photograph my c-section at the Royal Sussex County hospital. My situation was a bit unusual as I was being treated for breast cancer & needed to deliver my son at 34 weeks so I could continue my treatment. I could not have asked for a more thoughtful, sensitive & lovely photographer. The pictures she took speak for themselves. Lesley’s photos tell a story and I am so grateful and proud that my warrior Henry can look back at his amazing birth. The hospital were very accommodating and Lesley was so professional and not intrusive in any way. We loved her work so much we got her to do a newborn shoot when Henry was out of special babycare and back home. I still cry looking at the pictures of me breastfeeding my tiny preemie with my one boob. And she captured my older boy’s (3 at the time) love affair with his new baby brother so perfectly. If you want to capture irreplaceable memories of your child’s start in life then please speak to Lesley. You won’t regret it xxx”

If you’re interested, I’d recommend we meet up before hand for a cuppa, have a chat and pencil in some dates.

Meet Rachel and her twins Faith and Frankie <3

Please feel free to mention me to your pregnant friends. Thank you!

I look forward to hearing from you.
